The Dozing Dhole Days of Summer

the Asiatic Dhole

Taken at the Toronto Zoo in the summer of 2008. The subject was quite accommodating.

With its red, foxlike coat, the Asiatic Dhole or Asiatic/Indian wild dog can cluck like a chicken and form clans of up to 40 members (the original flash mob?) Like African Wild Dogs, puppies eat first at a kill. Unlike wolves, they do not have as pronounced a dominance hierarchy, and some studies have suggested that they are the more of an ancestor to the domesticated dog than wolves are.

Your comments are like chocolate for my soul ... I can never get enough of them! Bonus brownie points for witty comments! I love a good turn of phrase. :)
