I would like to have the superpower of making any two people agree with each other. To be able to promote accord–but not necessarily similarity of thought, because every one of us is distinct in our thought patterns (even identical twins are not similar in every respect), thanks to upbringing, general disposition, culture, and experience.
But I can use your unique personal histories to draw threads of commonality together. To show that, despite surface dissimilarities, we are all connected together. To demonstrate that the totality of your separate lives have led you both up to this point in time–whether it is a positive, enlightening moment like the joining of two hearts in marriage, or a negative, destructive moment like internecine war. I cannot change your pasts, but I can help deliver mutual enlightenment or help you work towards a common good and a common goal. Even if we do not speak the same tongue, worship the same higher power(s), or are one, two or four generations apart, we can speak a common language of understanding, and those first few steps can even be pivotal to paving the way for a better tomorrow for all of us. We can start to see when we begin to agree.
Yes, I’d like to be called ‘Mediator’ with a capital M. The ability to reunite or strengthen lives, or end conflicts on a local, regional, national or planetary scale would be quite the superpower to possess, and a reward in itself beyond value. Especially when that superpower of agreement is passed onto others and willingly, gladly absorbed, over and over again, until a community is created.
