Daily Prompt: Mix Tape Masterpiece

You make a new friend. Make them a mix tape (or playlist, for the younger folks) that tells them who you are through song. Music covers such an electic range of moods. There is no one song that defines me. Each is a uniquely styled hexagon on a larger quilt. Even instrumentals can be emotionally uplifting. Here are 25 songs that capture my emotions and persona. If you extrapolate the restless, romantic wanderer who yearns for the glory days of the past but is still hopeful, sometimes desperately so, for whatever tomorrow may bring, you’re pretty much on the mark.

  • Music and Me (Michael Jackson)
  • Bridge Over Troubled Waters (Simon and Garfunkel)
  • The Search is Over (Survivor)
  • Memory (Theme from Cats) (Barry Manilow)
  • All Roads Lead to You (Chicago)
  • The Never-Ending Story (Limahl)
  • We Are the Champions (Queen)
  • I Can Dream About You (Dan Hartman)

  • The 1812 Overture (Bond)
  • When You Love a Woman (Journey)
  • Hasta Mi Finale (Il Divo)
  • Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky) (Bill Conti)
  • Faith of the Heart (Russell Watson)
  • Maybe Tomorrow / Theme from The Littlest Hobo
  • Kiss (Tom Jones)
  • That’s the Way Love Is (Celine Dion)

  • Down in the Boondocks (Billy Joe Royal)
  • You, Y’ Look Good (Joani Taylor)
  • One Man, One Woman (Tracy Wang)
  • Theme from Chariots of Fire (Vangelis)
  • Ashokan Farewell (Jay Ungar)
  • Downtown (Petula Clark)
  • Hold Me, Thrill Me, Never Let Me Go (Gloria Estefan)
  • Any Day Now (Chuck Jackson)
  • Go the Distance / Theme from Disney’s Hercules (Roger Bart)
