The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory of Ontario isn’t just a 10,000+ sq ft indoor home for butterflies, but several different species of birds (including finches, quails, and weaver birds), as well as red-eared slider turtles, which co-exist / ignore them, too. I guess the presence of feeding stations is a big incentive to not chomp on the butterflies while the latter are in their larval or pupal stages. Then again, maybe there’s no nutritional value to eating butterflies in any stage of their lifecycle.  Continue reading
