The first camellia bud, or false rose, to be blooming in the backyard. Every day brings forth more unfurling petals. From afar, the flower looks red, but up close, it’s pink. Photographed after an early evening rain, this is the 50th photo I’ve taken of this particular bud. The first 49 were too dark or blurred.
