This gallery contains 4 photos. Back are the Chestnut-Backed chickadees, in as many days. Here is one of the babies on the favourite perch of our smaller feathered friends — the trusty ol’ grapevine. Photographed on June 15, 2014.
In the fall and winter of last year, I saw maybe two of these, and now they’ve become regular visitors, supplanting even the Eurasian collared doves and the Black-Capped Chickadees.
In fact, I think the Chestnut-Backed chickadees have stolen the crown of adorability from their monochromatic cousins. Especially with such attentive gazes. Even if they are cleaning out the suet feeder every day.
Something this cute has no right looking so reproachful! It seems to be challenging me with the question, “You want a piece of me?” Why, yes, dear. All of you! 🙂
