The Scarlet Mini Helicopter

Always a stop-me-in-my-tracks head turner, this male Red-Veined Meadowhawk dragonfly has been a bit of a challenge to get a closeup still of. One (of several) finally obliged me on a bit of wild vegetation on the Crescent Beach Trail in Surrey on the first day of spring 2014. The “wings forward” position is apparently a favourite pose of dragonflies.
