The Silliness Over Tree Swallows

This gallery contains 4 photos. These tree swallows were photographed at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in over the mid-May Victoria Day long weekend. This beautiful and inquisitive male is one of several who like to sit on the nesting boxes by the ponds and watch the humans go by.

The female Tree Swallows were not as bold as their male counterparts. Still, this lady did not fly from the nesting box she was sitting on.

A breeding pair of Tree Swallows perched in where else? a tree, photographed from the very tall viewing tower. Which was so close, yet so far away.

And this male was inordinately patient, sitting on the bulrush for a good 10 minutes while I snapped tripod-supported and tripod-free photos of him. Apparently he had filled his insect quota for the day.
