This gallery contains 3 photos. My first up-close-and-personal with a very curious red-breasted nuthatch. It seems that when I’m busy photographing the black-capped chickadees, other birds want to get in on the action, too.
Despite being an all-year-rounder, this little songbird only made its debut in the backyard last winter very briefly, and only within the last week has it made a reappearance at the sunflower feeder. The sound of my camera clicking and beeping probably drew it to the apple tree.
Of course, it could also have been the suet feeder that piqued its interest. Photographed on the surprise sunny afternoon of July 20, which started out cloudy, cold, and drizzling in the morning.
