This gallery contains 2 photos. Flamingoes aren’t naturally coloured pink or orange — they are grey or white, but thanks to a diet that’s extremely rich in betacarotene, they glow with amazing titian hues. Photographed at the Greater Vancouver Zoo on September 14.

as far as I know, it is diet (alone) … but I’m not an ornithologist 🙂

the same thing happens with salmon. and I think if I ate tons of carrots, my skin would be orange, too!
