Portrait of a Pineapple

One doesn’t usually associate pineapples with the festive season, but this tropical fruit–after almost a year of growing in the pot–ripened in mid-November. Unlike storebought varieties, which sport yellow and green skins, we’ve allowed ours to ripen to a uniform orange hue. This makes them sweeter, and much less tart. Photographed November 23.
