White-Crowned Sparrow

An immature White-Crowned Sparrow (with brown facial markings instead of the black ones found on adults) roosts on a low tree as we exit Boundary Bay Regional Park. This pretty bird has been an extreme rarity in my backyard this fall–showing up only twice so far, and singly. Photographed on Christmas Eve.
