This gallery contains 2 photos. For an early Valentine’s Day treat, here are the latest closeups of Ruby and Kiwi, the resident Eclectus Parrots from the Bloedel Conservatory! Ladies first: her cobalt blue mascara never runs. Ruby the Eclectus Parrot knows how to make a fashion statement with her strikingly exotic two-tone plumage. Photographed on January 18.

Kiwi is the noisier of the two Eclectus Parrots who greet you at the Bloedel Conservatory, but on our last visit, he swapped his publicity-seeking persona with Ruby (except for a few ear-splitting screeches that caught me by surprise).
