This gallery contains 4 photos. Actually, it was just two Barn Swallows that I photographed, but many more were in the air at Garry Point Park’s Scotch Pond. These colourful little birds are almost always on the move, so snagging that precious still has been impossible … until May 15! This is my first face-to-face encounter with a female Barn Swallow, and I wonder whom is more surprised to see the other.
Both her and her boyfriend (below, with the orangier breast) were not actively seeking insects like members of their own kind plus their cousins the Tree Swallows and Violet Green Swallows, but were roosting on a tree near one of the walking paths.
