An overcast and lightly rainy morning gradually gave way to sunshine and much warmer conditions, which provided the perfect ambience and lighting conditions for photographing (and juxtaposing) this rain-beaded Mexican Orange ‘Aztec Pearl’ leaf on the grey driveway tarmac. The Mexico Orange bush does not actually produce any fruit, but its leaves and dainty white flowers have an enticing and relaxing citrus fragrance. Photographed on July 12.

glad you liked it, Bernie! we have had very little rain too over the past three months, and are under severe water restrictions.

Feel like I could smell it from here. I like the way the drops reflect the rounded texture of the tarmac.

That’s what struck me at once also: The similarity of shape combined with the utter contrast of texture.
