Carol Burnett: There’s Laughter in Everything

how about the Tarzan Yell?

I was given the opportunity to see this veteran funny lady at The Orpheum in early February 2012. Her 1.5-hour act opened with sendups from her Emmy award-winning variety show–classic Carol. Looking not one whit like her 78 years, Carol fielded questions from a 2,600-strong Vancouver audience that covered her early work on Broadway and TV to more recent appearances on Glee and All My Children (she was even asked to perform her Tarzan Yell). Quite a few took to the microphone just to tell her how much laughter she had brought into their lives. She also shared her experiences of working with friends Julie Andrews and Lucille Ball, with warmth, humility, frankness and her trademark deadpan and zaniness.
