A Foggy Day on Boundary Bay

This gallery contains 7 photos. The fog didn’t lift at all today. The birds got the message, and stayed fluffed up. This is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a Red-Shafted Northern Flicker (female) as she perched just outside the sunroom upstairs for a good 5 minutes. Woodpeckers can be destructive — just look at the cherry tree branch!! 🙂

Daily Prompt: Menagerie

Do I have animals in my life? I used to own pets as a kid: a feisty little Pekingese-German Shepherd cross named Ben, two budgies (a blue boy named Charlie and a green/yellow girl named Corky, but not at the same time), one cockatiel (Gene Kelly or Jean Kelly; we never figured out if he was a she, or vice versa, because no eggs were ever laid), and even a female guinea pig (Wendy, I believe). My Review of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

When Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was released in 1991, it garnered critical acclaim and enjoyed tremendous box office success, with $425 million in combined domestic and international revenues on a $25 million budget.1

This stunning, cinematic achievement spawned a long-running, ambitious, and highly profitable Broadway musical of the same name (with a repertoire of songs every bit as rollicking and engaging as the movie’s own), won numerous movie industry accolades–most notably, the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture2–and further cemented animation as a powerful and credible medium for film.

It was also responsible for exposing Celine Dion’s singing career to a more international and mainstream (English-speaking) market, thanks to a closing credits duet with Peabo Bryson. Beauty and the Beast characters continue to be perennial favourites and have a pride of place at Disney resorts and events.
