That’s not really the name of this dragonfly, but it’s one I’m giving it until Google tells me otherwise. 🙂 This is a fairly large specimen, compared to the thin sticks of blue helicopters called damselflies that I’ve seen in the backyard, and the first golden-winged skimmer I’ve seen, period! This one looks like it’s drinking a Big Gulp through a giant straw, but it’s actually clinging to one of the bamboo stakes.
