Causin’ a Stir on the Fir

This gallery contains 2 photos. One of several accomplished singers in a giant fir tree, this high-energy, multi-tasking (being able to sing and flit from branch to branch while hunting for insects) Golden-Crowned Kinglet was a challenging subject to capture. I’ll never complain about photographing hummingbirds again!

But when this handsome guy throws a heart-melting look like this one, it’s all worth the challenge and frustration. I’m pretty sure there is at least one of these charming singers at chez moi, but it’s never poked its head out (of the bushes) for confirmation. Photographed on December 28, 2014, near Ward’s Marina in Surrey’s Elgin Heritage Park.
