Despite its pastel pink flowers, the new hummingbird feeder is getting the cold shoulder from the hummingbirds, but at least, the old, much less flashier one is not … from the chickadees, anyway. Here’s a shot of one in action. He’s looking around to see if I’ve noticed him.

A Group of Fungi, or Timber Rot?
What initially looked to me like rust growing in the cracks of wood was not. It may have been timber rot, or just opportunistic fungus (it’s the oddest looking colony I’ve ever seen). Photographed in Richmond, BC, along the Fraser River (behind the SilverCity Riverport Cinemas).
