This is one of (at least) three Anna’s hummingbirds (one adult male, one almost adult male, and one female) who were in the backyard at the same time this afternoon. This adult male (notice his pink crown) was photographed from the second sunroom window, some 15-20 feet away, in one of his more sedate moments on the plum tree on a cloudy day. Photographed on June 18.

he is — but nowadays we see him mostly at the front feeder! surprising that he doesn’t scrap with the younger males! 🙂

We saw some Anna’s when we were in Vancouver these past couple of weeks…nothing as spectacular as yours, though.

thank you, Teresa! we think of them as our birds without cages. 🙂
speaking of spectacular rare bird sightings, though … a male Magnificent Hummingbird has been spotted in the interior of BC, heading westward from Kamloops through to Lillooet!

thank you, Julie! the adult males like to play coy with their iridescent feathers. it’s a miracle when I can get them to shine for the camera! 😀

Thanks so much for following my photo blog. A bit different in subjects but all of us photo heads are kindred spirits.

Takami,
It is quite a long distance shot and the quality might degrade. I will give it a try and see how it turns out. Thank you for your suggestion!
Cheers,
