Golden Beauties Thru the Bars

Normally, I’d prefer not to show photos with cages, but it’s less distracting in the case of these subjects because of my distance from both them and the bars. This gorgeous pair of Golden Eagles is being rehabilitated at the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (O.W.L.) for eventual release back into the wild. I have yet to meet a Golden Eagle in the wild — and they are vastly outnumbered by Bald Eagles.

A Pair of Golden Beauties Through the BarsI wonder if I have seen these soaring high in the skies and mistaken them for Bald Eagles?

    • looking at them, it’s hard to believe they were injured, period, but they are well taken care of at O.W.L. 🙂

it’s possible that they were either nestlings found in a nest for which the parents could not be located, or suffered some degree of wing damage from flying into manmade objects (neither have brain injuries that would preclude eventual release back into the wild).

    • thank you, Judy! I think my subjects were as fascinated with me as I was with them. they were content to stare back and stay where they were, instead of flying around in their ample enclosure!
