This gallery contains 2 photos. Northern Pintail ducks are common sights all year round in Ladner, BC. This male was pecking for fallen seed within a few feet of my camera. Photographed on April 18 at the Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary.
This female Northern Pintail was giving her wings a stretch. These dabbling ducks are more likely to be on water than land, but having said that, like Mallards, they’re not likely to be skittish around humans, and can be found reasonably close to shore (unlike Brants, Loons, Mergansers, and Scaups, who really keep their distance).
Duckies! The female duck is very beautiful too 🙂
